The impact of a digital system on the monitoring and self-management of non-motor symptoms in People with Parkinson's
We are currently inviting people with Parkinson's and their carers to take part in our research study about an app to help monitor and manage non-motor symptoms.
Please start by watching the introduction video below, which explains the study and what taking part involves. Then follow the instructions on this page to get the app on your device.
Version 0.9.8 is now available. If you already have Liara, please update it when you can:
Your information stays exactly as it is. The update adds Daily notes, a place on the Symptoms tab to write about your day. If you mention a symptom, Liara adds it to your symptom notes for you, and you can delete any that are not right.
The app you may know as MAXine is now called Liara. It is the same app, from the same team, with a new name and a refreshed look. You now install it straight from the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android, rather than from TestFlight or a downloaded file. Everything you have added is still there — your medicines, your symptom notes and your messages are kept on the study's own system, not only on your phone.
The app will not update itself this time. Because Liara is a new listing in both stores, you need to install it yourself. How you do that depends on your phone.
You need to remove the old app before you can install Liara. Your phone cannot update from a downloaded file to a Google Play app, so there is no update to wait for.
We no longer use TestFlight. Please install Liara from the App Store instead, using the App Store button on the install page. You may be asked to sign in when you first open it — please use the same email address and password as before. Once Liara is working you can delete the old TestFlight app, and TestFlight itself, from your phone.
The app includes a Your Data screen in Settings. You can download a copy of the information the app holds about you at any time, and you can ask for your app account to be deleted. Deletion is scheduled after 14 days and you can cancel it at any point in that window.
Information already collected as part of the research study is handled separately, under the terms set out in the participant information sheet. If you are unsure what applies to you, please contact the study team before deleting your account.
If you have any questions or need help getting started, please contact the study team.
